LEILA’S STORY

“The last thing I saw was my mother being murdered”

Leila, at the age of 9, witnessed her mother’s torture and murder in 2015 with her little sister. That was the last thing she saw as she went into a diabetic shock and lost her eyesight. She developed Type 1 diabetes from the shock of what she had seen.

When the Goodwill Caravan medical team met Leila, her father and sister in Greece, Leila had been blind for almost 2 years and was on a long waiting list in the public health service. Goodwill Caravan decided to take on her case and help her see again.

On Friday 1st December 2017, Leila saw again for the first time in 2 years after the Goodwill Caravan team was able to get her the medical attention she needed. Through your kind donations, we were able to get her the laser eye surgery she needed in order to see again.

Goodwill Caravan have been supporting her since to get the on-going medical treatment for her Type 1 diabetes and thanks to your donations, we have seen her grow and develop into a young person, full of hope and became one of Goodwill Caravans youngest volunteers!
